PacSim MCC device popular with Australian University
October 2015 – Pacific Simulators delivered one of its ProJet PS4.5 FSTDs to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia.
The PS4.5 was the first device to be certified under the new Part 61 MCC regulations introduced into Australia last year.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) introduced the new regulations as their solution from the fallout from the 2009 Colgan air crash in the USA. CASA’s approach was to make it mandatory to complete an MCC (Multi Crew Cooperation) training course and a flight test before pilots could obtain their ATPL.
UNSW has already secured a contract with QantasLink to train students destined for this regional airline, which will include the MCC course. The device was delivered in October with courses commencing in 2016.
