PacSim Delivers Flight Training Device (FTD) to the University of South Australia (UniSA)

September 12, 2022

New Zealand based Pacific Simulators (PacSim) has delivered a new PS4.5 EuroJet Flight Training Device (FTD) to the University of South Australia (UniSA).

The PS4.5 EuroJet fixed-base flight simulator is a fully functional FTD, representative of the Airbus A320, and is well-suited for undergraduate pilots intending on progressing to jet operations, as well as preparing for their first airline pilot role.

PacSim’s Operations Manager, Sean Galbraith, was responsible for the design and installation of the new PS4.5 EuroJet FTD in UniSA’s Adelaide facility and was encouraged by the strengthening of flight training being initiated by UniSA, through further investment in world-class flight training devices.

UniSA offers South Australia’s longest-running aviation degree, delivering flight training via state-of-the-art flight simulators which utilise the latest industry software.

Professor Abelardo Pardo, Dean of Programs (Engineering) at UniSA STEM, emphasised the strength of UniSA’s aviation training programs and the University’s dedication to offering their students a solid career path to become an airline pilot, in Australia or overseas.

Professor Pardo expressed his “thanks to PacSim’s team for working very closely with UniSA to deliver an excellent Flight Training Device, which will solidify our reputable aviation degrees, providing students an opportunity to undertake their initial pilot training in incredible, fully tactile, realistic cockpit operating environments”.

PacSim design, manufacture, and service premium quality, fixed-base FTDs for the global pilot training market. PacSim’s focus is on narrow body, single-aisle jets, specifically the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.

Founded in 2002, PacSim is based in Christchurch, New Zealand, a country well known for advanced technology and innovation.

Russell Hubber, PacSim Founder and CEO, was grateful to extend the existing, long-term partnership with UniSA: “PacSim’s NextGen PS4.5 EuroJet FTD is ideal for Jet Orientation Training, pre-Type Rating and Multi-Crew Training.

UniSA can now encourage aspiring pilots to hone their pilot training skills in a PacSim PS4.5 EuroJet FTD, before moving across to full flight simulation training.

The PacSim PS4.5 EuroJet flight simulator can be used for credits toward CPL and ATP to produce airline-ready pilots.”
