PacSim wins FSTD tender for Australian University
April 2016 – Pacific Simulators has won the tender to provide a Flight Training Device to the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in Australia. USQ will use the ProJet Series PS4.5 device for Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) training and research purposes.
The PS4.5 has been approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to be used for MCC training in Australia as part of the new Part 61 regulations introduced into Australia last year. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) introduced the new regulations in response to the fallout from the 2009 Colgan air crash in the USA. It is now mandatory in Australia to complete an MCC course prior to operating as a crew member in a multi-crew aircraft or obtaining an ATPL.
Director of Sales and Marketing for Pacific Simulators, Iain Pero said, “We are excited for yet another order from a university for our PS4.5 device, which has been designed specifically for this type of training.”
The PS4.5 is a fixed-base, fully enclosed FSTD based on a narrow-body, twin engine jet airliner. The device is due to be delivered in late 2016. The University of Southern Queensland offers a Bachelor of Aviation program with majors in Flight Operations and Aviation Management.
